An opaque gray-green.

“Based on a few previous experiments with Bayou, I wanted to revisit this glass with Double Helix Kronos 2 powder as a surface decoration. It did not disappoint. The flowers were created by layered dots of CiM's Peppermint Cream and stormed Double Helix Clio encased in clear. The spacer beads are the same Bayou base glass wtih Kronos 2 powder and Clio dots.” See more at Darlene’s blog. – Darlene Collette

CiM Tester Feedback

  • Some testers reported that Bayou is a unique color addition to the 104 palette.
Bayou is a new color to the 104 palette. It is a bit more grey green than the colors I tested it against. – Paula Schertz

"Bayou is a beautifully reactive, light to medium grey opaque colour. On CiM's website, you will find it described as grey-green or as having a hint of green, but my experience of this colour is that it is grey. I didn't see any greenish tones in it at all until I tried it with silver. Bayou is a bit of a striker, going a touch browner and a touch darker when I reduced it." Read more at Melanie's blog.

"In this first bead, Bayou was wrapped with silver foil and rolled in Val Cox Isabella glass frit. It was then reduced and encased on clear glass and wrapped with 99% fine silver wire. It pairs well with spacers of CiM's Peppermint Cream." Read more at Darlene's blog.

"Bayou is a lovely slightly streaky grey. It has a hint of green. It melts beautifully with no shocking or bubbling. This bead is a base of Bayou with Peppermint Cream stringer and Aiko leaves."

"These textured ammonite beads have been burnished with fine silver leaf." Read more at Kitzbitz Art Glass' blog.

"Bayou melted smoothly with no shockiness or bubbles. It works excellent alone or as a base color. It tested great as a frit base, with silver foil the Lemuria frit was gorgeous. Bayou as a base for the stipple stitch with Aurae stringers was beautiful. I look forward to trying it as a base with more silver glass stringers."

"Bayou is a grey-green. Like a lot of opaque colours, it looks slightly paler when it’s encased. It’s a touch streaky but not as much as CiM Porpoise. I didn’t have any problems with shockiness or bubbling. These beads are Bayou with a thick encasing layer of Effetre Super [Crystal] Clear 006 and the decoration and spacers are Peppermint Cream. The photographs were taken indoors in natural daylight." Read more at Laura's tumblr.

"A lovely creamy grey-green that complements the neutral spectrum very well and looks equally great mixed with other hues."
Juliette Mullett
"Bayou is an earthy gray with the slightest hint of green clay. The nature inspired color is a delightful canvas for silvered ivory shards. The glass combination is crisp but plays incredibly well with the blueish-gray reactive tones which bloom from the metal. No shocking or bubbling occurred during testing."
