"Slate is a light, greyish blue transparent colour. Its darkness changes dramatically when it is used in thick layers, and it can bubble when applied using very thin stringer, so you need to watch your heat with this colour. . . . Slate makes a surprisingly good base colour for silver glass. My reducing silver glass bloomed on top of it, and I got a very nice starting strike from my TerraNova2 frit." "The 3 central beads in this set were created with Slate sprinkled with Double Helix fine Aurae glass frit and reduced to a golden glitter. As shown in the two spacer beads, this transparent slate blue stayed true and did not fume in the presence of the silver glass." Read more at Darlene's blog.

"Slate is a very pretty transparent light grey-blue. A nice user-friendly glass. No bubbling, scumming, shocking or other glass naughtiness." Read more at Laura's tumblr.

"Slate is a pale gray blue. The subtle transparent glass reminds me of a Midwestern sky before a spring thunderstorm. The stiff glass presses easily and holds shape nicely while adding intricate surface decoration."
